a note on what i wore posts..

woke up this morning with a headache like a mac truck hit my brainage

my lungs killed and my throat was swollen
ick.
i hate hate hate being sick
i feel awful because it is my son's school vacation and we had to be couped up in the house all day
we played trouble a few times, couponk, and made hot cocoa
and i think he loved it
now he's sledding outside with my husband
so i think this sick day went okiee

image: google images
so i have been noticing in blog communities an abundance of what i wore posts
i really love seeing a few vintage ditties and fashion every so often in a post of what i wore
but every post..no thanks!
i mean how many times can one pose for the camera daily?
i find it a bit egotistical
correct me if im wrong
i simply don't get posts every day of yourself and what you wore
and getting your kids and family involved?
i mean my son hates getting his picture taken
but maybe they do?
im sure he would hate me dressing him and taking multiple photos of what i choose to dress him in
i mean they are a cute idea
but im trying to think of the underbelly of this idea
like i stated before i like these what i wore posts every now and again but daily it def irks me!

is it easy

never thought it could happen to me - my email got hacked gross
and sent out a bunch of nasty emails
just when i was watching vice on mtv about the hackers in africa who get all their information
from donated computers and they break open the computers for the hard drive
and try to get all yr info and other peoples = no good.

im very much excited because i found out one of my early christmas presents
is a sirius radio
i really wanted one so badly so i could listen to bbc radio 1
it's my favorite radio station and reminds me of my time in england
it just needs to be installed in the mini and away we go.

sabrina ward harrison

a journal girl or i should i say woman who inspires me is
sabrina ward harrison
i got her journal/art book years ago shortly after my son was born
it really is an amazing piece of mixed media in a journal bound book
her thoughts and ideas are so creative and she portrays that being sad is normal
take the bad and sad and make something out of it grow with it
things in life take weird twists and turns and sometimes are overwhelming
but we are strong
in a difficult time in my life i looked @ her book daily
and it helped me so much beyond words
i really like to give her book as a gift to friends because it is a celebration of life
the book that i usually buy is spilling open: the art of becoming yourself

"I am afraid to show you who I really am, because if I show you who I really am, you might not like it--and that's all I got."
— Sabrina Ward Harrison (Spilling Open: The Art of Becoming Yourself)

geddy lee

did you ever hear the voice of geddy lee, how did it get so high?
just dyed my hair back to black and grrr could i just kick myself cause now i miss my red!
ack but i think it would damage my hair to go back to red after dying it black again.
pffft.

welp my classes ended last night and we topped it off with a potluck dinner.
i was so happy to drive home last night from school knowing i won't be driving there again for a month
thank the goodness for school breaks.
i've been a bit of an insomniac lately i can't get to bed until 2 or 3 in the morning
it stinks..i pray to get back on a regular sleeping schedule soon cuz insomnia stinks!

was just watching the nicki minaj hour block on fuse tv and she is super rad
i ♥ her
i swear she re-invents her look every day it's amazing
style icon!

i really want to have my son start a musical instrument, he has such musical instinct
and the voice of an angel
the problem is he needs to pick an instrument
it's been a toss up between the drums, guitar, saxophone, and trumpet
how does one choose from those?
decisions, decisons

the stick

so kids i'm back after the surgery and feeling better
i had surgery this past friday morning at around 7:40 am
the hospital i went to was newton-wellesley and their surgical unit was incredible
i was very scared and not looking forward to it at all but the whole staff was supportive and caring through the whole procedure
my total surgery time was about 1 hour and a half
and after i spent a few hours in recovery
again the care was incredible as i was deathly afraid of the anesthesia
when i got into the operating room i felt like a kid on christmas morning
mind you i had what the nurse said was an iv "cosmo"
before transfer (i guess they give this to all patients before entering the OR)
but damn
that OR was a dream, big bright lights, loads of machines a true medical dream!

my friends lomo camera!

i spent the last few days recovering and feel better today, it took a little while.
the past few days i've been trying to think up christmas gifts that i have yet to get
my husband hardest to shop for!
so far i got him a spanish cooking class @ cambridge culinary school
a few fleece pants and i don't know what else...(ideas)?
my son i've pretty much covered, i LOVE to shop for him
speaking of my lil man weezer is playing in boston tmrw night and wed and i would love to take him
but my bank acct is low, if i knew he would truly LOVE it i would def purchase
but 8 going on 9 yrs old you can never be sure if his attention span will last for how much these bad boy tickets are going for!

so in a post previous to this i posted about the neely's cookbook
they are on the food network and my husband is pretty much obsessed with them..lol
he's practically cooked everything in their cookbook
but tonight he made fried chicken!
it was so so yummy!

tom cooking fried chicken

i don't go to too many shows like i used to but one i do want to see
is the pogues
they are coming in march in boston
and i would definitely not want to miss him
even though he is very inebriated half the time they play
i do love the pogues!
and shane mcgowen's teeth

i love getting packages

love when i open the door and voila there is a package of goodies on the porch
i ordered my friends gifts a few weeks ago and they came in today
part of their gift was an eyeshadow palette from stila
i ♥ stila
not only because i do freelance makeup for them but that their product rocks
i was a stila girl since high school and in college thats all i bought for makeup
my favorite perfume i wore all the time was stila creme bouquet
it was gone for years but they just released it again (phew)
and it came in the package with the girls eye palettes
when i opened the box i rolled the scent all over me (since it only comes in a rollerball)

image (http://www.stilacosmetics.com/)

these are the palettes i got for my friends
they are adorable and the pigment color is intense and awesome

image (http://www.stilacosmetics.com/)

also i'm gonna make mix cd's and throw in some lush soap!

saw a boy with clark wallabees on today and it made me miss mine
since i rocked them for 2 years and they were fall apart stinky
maybe time for a new investment!

elsie's e-course

i'm very excited to be starting a blog e course by
elsie
she created an e course for bloggers and it has some great info
if you are a first time blogger or have been for awhile!
these last few months have been amazing meeting new people on here
this course so far is pretty incredible and i have learned a lot!
i used to use livejournal and deleted it years ago
i miss the bonding, new ideas, creativity, friends
so i am happy to be back writing, learning, and creating again.

i bought scrod today at the market today it was pretty cheap for a decent size
i am going to bake it in tin foil with scallions, onions, salt rub, and seasoning.
on the side will be cous cous (parmesan) and summer squash and zucchini grilled.
just love to cook

i'm watching celebrity rehab with dr.drew it is amazing what he does for his patients
i do believe even though it is a reality show
that he seems like a great doctor/person/human
i really like the "nurse" or his assistant who has the tattoos
she seems a lil bit older and her style and mannerisms are so rad and endearing
i love that he accepts her tattoos in the workplace
maybe it's just california and that more people have lots of tattoos there
but i know boston is so strict with tattoos in the workplace
i wonder what it would be like in california, la?
i'm often curious about the other side of america
i've heard many pro's and con's about la
but i do believe it is each individuals experience that makes it

it's interesting how our bodies are our epicenter of emotion when upset, mad, or sad our body reacts to that emotion by output.

decorating our tree in p.j.'s all day tra la la

our tree is not done because we are waiting for tom to get home from band practice but here is what we have done so far
voila..
lights...

then we made some yummy hot cocoa w/ mini marshmallows
and i took a photo of c
hence he did not want his photo taken

i got great news today that i got an a on my a&p lab class
i was really nervous of my final last week but i guess i got a 93?
classes are winding down one by one a week
my last class is next week thank goodness!

last night we had a great time @ kings
a awesome bowling alley with a funky retro style
my friend tara brought her son and husband and chris, tom and i went
we bowled had appetizers and it was an amazing time
it was pretty pricey 99$ for all of us but it was 6 with rentals for shoes!

this friday is my surgery and i'm pretty nervous about it!
trying not to over think it but my mind races a mile a minute sometimes
i just really don't care for anesthesia
i think im gonna try to do acupuncture on thursday before my surgery friday morning
they said it should take an hour and a half

tis the season

so since it's the season of giving i'm sorta broke
but i have been doing a lot of window shopping and buying for others and found some
real cute things!

love these: they are a different style of "door knockers"

doc martens: oxblood boots so cute with leggings and skirts!  i used to have a pair in middle school and high school but my mom dumped them when i went off to college.

i'm obsessed with down home with the neely's on the food network on weekend mornings!  these two have such chemistry it's great and make super yummy dishes!  my husband got this cookbook of amazon for an early xmas present for us!!!

lush: karma kream
smells so so amazing i love it like orangey pathchoui..some people either love or hate patchouli it seems but i love it.  my husband doesnt like it but i do, so i guess he has to suffer..

kitchen aid mixer!

i love this green and since our family is doing so much more cooking it's a basic nessesity in the kitchen! where to put it is hard because in our apartment we don't have that much room.
but we are thinking of buying an island at ikea.

this cute blythe doll!

they have a lot of cute blythe dolls w different hair outfits etc.  i have one room with religious art, candles, art,  and collectibles this would look great in.

recently one of my friends was talking about taking a knitting class and all of us going and doing a knitting circle type thing.  a woman at my old work taught me how to knit a scarf and i got the hang of it..and it was a instant stress realeaser.  the thing is i was 75% done with it and missed a stich and it unraveled the whole thing.  i was so upset that i threw the needles at the wall and gave in and didn't try again which was dumb.  i think this would be a perfect time to re-start and try it especially these winter month in boston!  who knows maybe i could actually knit a hat or more.  there is this place in dorchester (where i live in boston) called this stitch house it looks ultra cute and has classes and circles!  i think im gonna check it out this week!

whenever i'm at cvs or the grocery store and the clerk asks for a dollar donation for kids with cancer or toys for tots i always give a dollar to my son and have him sign the paper with his name that will go on the wall of donations.  even though we don't have much money i think it is important to instill these values in our children and other kids.  i'm proud of my son because the last few years when the salvation army has been ringing the christmas bell for change without me saying anything he takes his money from his pocket and puts it in the bucket. i am so proud of him and i hope he teaches his kids this valuble lesson.

lily love

i adore lily.
